I’m off to South America for a few days. Call it unofficial FHFF business, but I had to make sure that I took the time to visit some local food banks while on my trip.
1 in every 7 Chileans go hungry every day, and as Chile’s only food bank serving a country with over 4,000 kilometres of coastline, they are doing absolutely everything they can.
In existence for just over 3 years, Chile is brand new to the food bank scene, unlike neighbouring Argentina. I had an opportunity to visit Eduardo, Director of Operations at the food bank. It was incredible to see how different things are from our food banks back home.
Red Alimentos (literally translated as Food Network) is leading the way in Chile and it was exciting to meet the people behind it all.
Stay tuned - never know what might end up happening there!
